My journey to serve you as 8th Circuit State Attorney began with someone reminding me of the simple truth that service starts at home. I was born & raised here, before serving you as an Assistant State Attorney in the Gainesville office. Then as now, the State Attorney's Office did not offer effective training & meaningful opportunities for talented prosecutors, so the United States Department of Justice recruited me -- & thank goodness! I was entrusted as a legal advisor to the Presidential Protective Detail for President George W. Bush, an awesome, humbling experience for any American. My federal service continued under President Obama.

I will never forget when an Assistant United States Attorney who had been our 8th Circuit State Attorney told me my country needed me. The hair rose on my arm from the magnitude of that call to duty, & that feeling of gratitude, fortitude & humility never wavered each & every time I announced in court, "Beverly McCallum for the United States." Everything I did there, I did for you as my fellow Americans -- even while you weren't watching. The values I learned here in North Central Florida enhanced my ability successfully to educate the public & lead federal, state & local agents & officers.

As a federal prosecutor I received world-class training & hard-core experience in leadership, the Constitution and our laws. I served you on the national level for about nine years here & abroad. As a career Assistant United States Attorney, I gained a world of law enforcement experience at the highest level. Let me put that experience & knowledge to work, to help keep you safe.

I stepped up on your behalf to protect the Florida public against a kingpin, child rapists, & racketeers ruining lives with opioids & other pills. I protected Americans against professional drug traffickers sneaking poison into this country, those desecrating the memory of our service members by dismantling a World War II memorial & those sneaking a loaded weapon & dangerous, banned pesticides onto passenger planes. I brought to justice fraudsters & those poaching threatened wildlife & damaging our environment by dumping toxic chemicals.

For over a half decade I have owned a Gainesville law firm, serving the local community & beyond. I am blessed to be undefeated at jury trial on either side of the aisle. Aside from being a successful local businesswoman, I am trained & experienced in bank management. With my extensive white-collar investigative, prosecutorial & professional experience, I am ready to deal with the largely unaddressed problem of fraudsters preying on our most vulnerable residents.

I am federally trained to take the lead in law-enforcement aspects in the aftermath of major disasters, working smoothly with federal, state & local officials & the public.
