I’m running for City Council for the same reason I’ve been compelled to advocate in my community since 2014. I know firsthand of the multiple hardships and injustices that residents in District B face. I’ve experienced homelessness, enrolled in housing and assistance programs, and recently resigned as the Resident Service Coordinator on a HUD property due to cruel treatment of tenants. I strive to be a part of the solution by advocating for Fair Housing, Economic Development, Community Engagement, Environmental & Racial Justice.
As the founder of Our Afrikan Family, Circle Coalition, and Kemistry Learning Center, I’ve built capacity to educate and research with my neighbors and neighboring communities on how a true Community Benefits Agreement should be structured. As a community servant, I’ve witnessed the tables turn in a positive manner quite often. We will continue our grassroots collaborative work to create a strategic plan that includes all, develop community service projects to assist those in need of a helping hand, and facilitate community engagement for those willing to be of service.
This contribution will assist with advocacy on a higher level to ensure the voice of the unseen and unheard will have a seat at the table. Please share this link. We need the entire village to stand together and create positive change!
Yours in Service,
Kendra London
