17th Annual AAIC Hunger Walk

For the past 16 years the Akron Area Interfaith Council has been proud to sponsor The Annual Hunger Walk for the purpose of raising money to support the efforts of the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank.

The Akron Canton Regional Foodbank and its network of hunger relief partners are working hard to provide food and other essential items for over 500 food pantries, hot meal sites, shelters and other hunger relief programs in order to meet the increased demand for emergency food assistance in eight counties in Northeast Ohio

Ongoing inflation and cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid are causing economic challenges for our most vulnerable population that will likely increase demand at a time when food supplies to the Foodbank are reduced. With these economic challenges for our neighbors, the need for help with groceries is higher now than it was during the pandemic. Despite the increased needs facing our community, funding cuts for the Foodbank on both the federal and state levels have resulted in the Foodbank receiving 5-6 million fewer pounds of food from government sources in 2025. This decrease in funding will likely carry over into 2026 which makes it more challenging to serve our neighbors.

Please support the Foodbank and all your neighbors who are facing hunger in our community with a generous donation. 100% of all donations go directly to the FoodBank.  We need you now more than ever.

Thank you for joining us as we walk together toward the goal of stamping out hunger in our community.
