My name is Alisa Van Langeveld and I’m running for State Senate - District 08.
I'm a Utahn through and through, born and raised in Bountiful and now living in North Salt Lake. Growing up, I participated in community programs - sports, debate, Girls' State - which instilled in me the importance of community engagement and looking out for one another.
Today, I wear many hats - I'm a North Salt Lake City Council member, a Girl Scout troop leader, an adjunct professor at the University of Utah, a mom of four wonderful girls, and a devoted wife. In all my roles, my top priority is making sure the voices of my constituents and community members are truly heard. As a city council member, I've worked tirelessly to represent the needs of the people I serve, not my own self-interests. I'm not afraid to stand up to the status quo and work for what's right. That's the kind of leader I will be as your state senator.
I have loved my work in government as part of the North Salt Lake City Council but I’ve become increasingly disappointed watching the state government let us all down.
This is our opportunity - our chance to take back control of our state government and put it in the hands of leaders who will truly work for the interests of everyday Utahns, not special interests or partisan ideologies. As an independent candidate, I have the unique ability to build bigger circles and bring people together from across the political spectrum.
Most importantly, I've got the trust of the people. I'm a community leader, an everyday citizen, a working mom, who wants to work with you to make a difference. Join me in breaking the supermajority!
