Brooke D'Sousa for Sandy City Council

My name is Brooke D’Sousa and I am running to be your next Sandy City Council representative.

I am passionate about maintaining the quality of life we have come to know and expect as Sandy residents, but that does not come without challenges. Our infrastructure has been ignored and is in need of attention. It is imperative that we maintain qualified public safety personnel, especially as our city’s population continues to grow. Economic development and growth must be responsibly considered, taking into account the positive and negative effects to all stakeholders to reduce the unintended consequences of these important decisions. Land is becoming a scarce resource, and because of this our public open spaces must be protected. The city must improve its communication with residents, and increase governmental transparency. All of these complex issues must be analyzed while maintaining a responsible budget and tax rate.

Being a mother to a daughter with autism for the past 21 years, I have learned the importance of giving a voice to those who are most vulnerable. It is in the advocacy for others that I have found my purpose. I want to be an example to other elected officials all over the valley on how to lead with honesty, integrity, accountability, transparency and respect.
