Three years ago, Courtney Gore felt a calling. As a former educator, she recognized the need for someone with her background and experience to step up and serve on the GISD School Board of Trustees. She originally ran on the premise of being a voice for the students, parents, and educators of GISD. Once elected, Courtney spent countless hours pouring over curriculum and district policy. Expecting to find the issues that compelled her to run, she instead found a district providing quality instruction, operating with integrity, transparency, and filled with educators who love what they do and love the students of GISD. Now, she is running for re-election to the board with the same premise as before…..to continue doing what is right for the students, parents, and educators of GISD.
Courtney has spent her first term as GISD trustee becoming deeply knowledgeable in her role and using that expertise to be a fierce advocate for the students, parents and educators of the district. Courtney earned her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and graduated with membership in America’s largest educational honor society, Kappa Delta Pi. Courtney has held a Texas state license to teach grades K-8 and has over 10 years of direct classroom experience.
Courtney has continued to elevate her knowledge about education in this county, in Texas, and nationally by participating in continuing education opportunities offered through various professional and educational organizations, including Leadership Granbury, TEA and TASB. She comes to school board meetings prepared….having done the groundwork to be ready to ask the hard questions and make educated decisions about matters brought before the board. Recently, Courtney has brought positive national attention to GISD by standing up against anti-public school entities. She is not just an advocate for public education, she is a warrior in the fight.
A GISD alumni herself, Courtney is the mother of 4 children, all of whom are either currently enrolled in GISD or are GISD graduates. Courtney is deeply rooted in the community, with family ties of several generations who have set examples of civic leadership and service. In addition to being the Vice President of the current GISD Board of Trustees, Courtney also serves on the board of United Way of Hood County, Granbury Education Foundation, is a member of several other civic organizations, and has graduated from Leadership Granbury. Her dedication to serving the people of the community is not just word service, it is evident in her works.
Courtney, a lifelong Republican and Christian, knows her position on the school board is one that is non-partisan....she must serve all of the students of Hood County, not just those who align with her political or religious views. Her principled, conservative values serve the community well, yet she serves without bias, knowing that a community that educates ALL of the students of this district will continue to prosper and grow. Courtney Gore, Candidate for Re-election for the GISD School Board, Place 4.
