Melanie Graber, a local attorney and parent, is running for the Goddard USD 265 School Board to stand up for public education and support every student in our district. With her legal background and deep commitment to fairness, Melanie is ready to ensure the board remains transparent, accountable, and focused on what matters most——preparing students for the future.

  • Mom of 3 amazing kids and students in the Goddard School District
  • 4th Generation Kansan
  • Washburn Law Graduate specializing in civil defense and municipal prosecution
  • Butler County Law Enforcement Memorial Board Member

Defending Public Education: Melanie is against private school vouchers, which defund public schools and transfer public tax dollars to private institutions that are not held to the same transparency, accountability, and inclusion standards. She believes public funds belong in public schools—supporting the majority of students, not just those who can afford private school.

Transparency: Melanie believes the Goddard community deserves clear, honest communication from its school board. She will advocate for transparent communication, accessible information, and decision-making that includes student, parent, and teacher voices.

Addressing Growth: USD 265 is projected to see 1000 new students over the next five years, with another 1000 expected by 2035. With the failure of the 2025 school bond, the district must find other ways to address growth. Ensuring students have the most effective resources, opportunities, and environment for learning is one of our top priorities.

Fiscal Responsibility: As an attorney, Melanie brings a strong understanding of policy, contracts, and governance. Melanie will approach the budget with careful oversight, prioritizing spending that supports student learning while protecting taxpayers' investment in public education.

Accountability: Melanie will work to ensure the board follows proper procedures, makes informed decisions, and uses policy as a tool to strengthen the district. She is committed to thoughtful, responsible leadership that respects processes, builds trust, and delivers positive educational outcomes for students and families.
