Jacob Robert Lawson for UDP Chair

My name is Jacob Lawson, and I am running for UDP chair. When I saw that we lost 3 seats in the Utah State Legislature this past election, I started to compare our state to others that had historical gains for Democrats. The biggest difference was that Utah’s young voters did not feel energized to vote. UDP must focus on young voters, and drive them to the polls. 

The state of Utah has the lowest average age at just 31 years old. We need an executive committee that not only understands the challenges everyday Utahns are facing, but has faced those challenges themselves. When I fought for Starbucks’ employees to unionize across Salt Lake, I personally understood their struggles and I knew how to energize them to fight a multi-billion dollar organization. I will bring my experience working with young people as a grassroots organizer to UDP to not only win back the seats we lost, but also gain even more.
