A Message from Kari:

I've been a Walpole resident since 2009, with more than 12 years' experience as a public educator, working in both K-8 and middle schools in urban and suburban districts. My husband and I are raising three children here, two of whom currently attend Boyden School. I've served this community in many different capacities, including as co-founder of Future of Walpole, RTM in Precinct 4, and as a member of the Master Plan Steering Committee, Walpole Cultural Council, Be Inclusive Inc., and the Yes for Walpole Middle School campaign.

I have enormous pride in the Walpole Public Schools. Our district's response to COVID has been second to none. We've navigated the ever-changing pandemic landscape within the confines of our budget while simultaneously pursuing transformative measures for the district including advancing the middle school building project, revising our strategic plan to incorporate a greater focus on educational equity, and working to eliminate kindergarten tuition for all families.

As a team we have done excellent work over the past three years, and I want to ensure we remain on a path to continued excellence. Going forward, my key areas of focus include:

• Continued, consistent data analysis to drive effective instruction in core academic subjects
• Supporting the work of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion director
• Pursuing needed renovations at Walpole High School within the town budgeting process
• Expanding opportunities for project-based and community learning, especially in STEM
• Planning for a smooth and thoughtful transition from Bird & Johnson Middle Schools to one combined building
• Increasing counseling and social-emotional learning support at the middle-school level
• Improving family and community engagement through increased outreach and translation services

It's been my honor and privilege to serve on the Walpole School Committee these past three years, and I am eagerly seeking a second term to continue working on behalf of our students, staff, and families. I welcome your questions and your input, and humbly ask for your vote on June 4.
