Liz Hamor for USD265

As a former educator, a parent, and a life-long learner, I value both learning and public education. 

I earned my master's degree in elementary education with an emphasis in bilingual education and ESOL (English as a Second or Other Language) more than 20 years ago. It launched me onto the path of being an advocate for and with students and families, especially those who face barriers to education. 

I spent most of the past decade working with school districts across Kansas, supporting students and educators who wanted to create schools in which ALL students can learn and thrive. Empowering and mentoring student leaders will always be one of the greatest honors of my life, and you’ll see that reflected in my campaign and commitments to Goddard youth.

Locally, I’ve been an active and engaged parent and community member, spending the past decade participating in various USD265 school site councils, committees, booster clubs, advisory boards, and occasionally co-coordinating special events. I enjoyed supporting my kids’ teachers and being on the other side of the classroom during my years as “room parent”. I’ve attended school board meetings for years in multiple districts, watching, listening, learning, and occasionally participating in the process. 

In my current career as a leadership consultant, I get energized by supporting clients in assessing and working through tough challenges within their communities, businesses, organizations, agencies, schools, etc. I love working collaboratively to support my clients’ visions for innovation and growth, and I look forward to doing the same with Goddard schools to continue working to create a district where every student thrives.
