After careful consideration, longtime Northwest Arkansas attorney Mauricio Herrera has announced his candidacy for Benton County Circuit Court, Division 4.
“I have dedicated my career to ensuring that every person has meaningful access to justice,” Herrera said. “After much thought and discussion with my family, I believe now is the right time to take this step and serve our community from the bench.”
Herrera was born in El Salvador, and has called Northwest Arkansas home since 1996, when he and his wife, Virginia, moved to the area with their three children. Recognizing the need for accessible legal services for the Hispanic community, he pursued his Bachelor’s Degree at John Brown University and earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2002.
Since then, Herrera has built a practice dedicated to serving a broad range of clients across immigration, family, criminal, and civil law. He is admitted to practice before the Arkansas Supreme Court, the Missouri Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Eighth Circuits.
He is an active member of the Benton County, Arkansas, and Federal Bar Associations. Beyond his practice, Herrera serves on the Arvest Bank Board of Directors in Benton County and the board of Credit Counseling of Arkansas. He is also a former elected trustee of Northwest Arkansas Community College, a former member of the Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, a past board member of the Kendrick Fincher Hydration for Life Foundation, and a former member of the Rogers Rotary Club.
Herrera and his family attend church in Rogers, where they have lived for nearly three decades. In his free time, he enjoys playing in the Rogers Recreation League soccer program, camping at Beaver Lake, and traveling.
“My guiding principle has always been that everyone deserves meaningful access to justice,” Herrera said. “I have committed my career to making that principle a reality, and I look forward to continuing that service as Circuit Judge.”
