Bowen for Magistrate Judge D2

Greetings,

My name is Megan S. Bowen and I am a lifelong resident of Carlsbad, New Mexico. 

I am seeking election as your next Magistrate Judge for Division 2.

In 2007, I obtained my degree in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University.

In 2008, I began working in the legal field and I have worked a broad range of areas including assisting in criminal prosecution, criminal legal defense, domestic relations, civil actions, victim advocacy and as Trial Court Administrative Assistant.

In July of 2017, I began the honor of volunteering as a mentor and Judge for the Eddy County Teen Court program. 

In March of 2022, I will have worked as a State of New Mexico employee for 10 years. I am thankful and proud of the work I have done serving my community. However, the work I want to do is not finished.

I have learned so much in my career, including how important it is to properly make sure the wheels of justice turn. It certainly takes the work of the whole system to make the process run. Our community deserves to be protected. Our community deserves to have justice for victims. The accused in our community deserve to have their civil rights protected as well. Our elected officials in our justice system are entrusted to weigh many factors to bring justice, deterrence and protect rights.

I believe that my experience, knowledge, work ethic and unbiased disposition are desired in a judiciary entrusted by the community. For these reasons and more I believe that I can serve the citizens of Eddy County well.
