Mike Capps for Kansas

Mike’s roots are in Wichita - raised by a single mother, Mike knows what it means to work hard - often living from paycheck to paycheck. After high school, Mike served his country in the Air Force, serving multiple combat tours in Afghanistan before returning to Wichita where he raised his son, who is now attending college in Kansas. Fighting for hardworking Kansans, Mike believes in the need to reform our criminal justice system - reducing non-violent incarcerations, rehabilitating those returning to their communities and ending the unconstitutional practice of civil asset forfeiture. Beyond Mike’s commitment to reforming our criminal justice system, he is committed to reforming Kansan’s child welfare system, where children are often needlessly removed from their home and other continue to be abused with little or no intervention. Mike is committed to giving a voice to those who otherwise do not have a voice in our state. Mike believes in the potential of Kansas to be a beacon for people to want to live and raise a family - he believes in Kansas’ future, but also knows there is a lot of work ahead to deliver on that promise.
