About Paul Z. Ford

Paul Ford has been a resident of Sandy for 5 years with his wife and 3 children aged 13, 8, and 6. He is active in the tech community in Utah and holds a leadership position in product management. Previously, Paul has owned his own small businesses and has published 2 fiction novels. As the child of an Army officer, and later serving in the Army National Guard himself, Paul’s upbringing fostered a global view, bringing this unique perspective to local governance. Also, Paul has been elected as an officer of a 501(c)3 to support small business in Texas, and was even on a NatGeo reality TV show in 2013. He is an excellent communicator with a wide range of knowledge and expertise.

Paul believes that Sandy’s citizens deserve at-large representation that cares about their needs and desires. Being a longtime leader, he understands the need for open communication and smart, data-driven planning for the city.

Paul’s commitment to small businesses extend beyond his own ventures. Sandy business owners serve our community and want municipal leaders who manage budgets, projects, and investments with as much diligence as their own livelihoods demand. Paul will represent these voices with experience, respect, and skill.

Armed with an A.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Paul is well-equipped to tackle the challenges Sandy faces. You can catch him riding his purple Honda Goldwing motorcycle, or on the hiking trail with his family.

Paul’s Sandy City Priorities

Civic Engagement

Sandy’s citizens deserve a voice in the operation of the city. Paul will make it a priority to include public comment in city council meetings for specific agenda items consistently. Your comments matter and should be a primary consideration of the council, whether via email, virtually, or in-person.

Small Business Development

Paul has a background in small business management and ownership and feels strongly that Sandy small businesses need representation on the city council. Sandy’s businesses and contractors should be given priority for the city’s needs. Paul intends to turn Sandy into a city of small business growth while representing these important community members on the council.

Data-Driven Decision Making

In his career, Paul has learned that every activity from budgeting to selecting vendors is strengthened by quantitative data. Paul’s goal is to incorporate these analytical data points into city council meeting discussions and votes.

Community Events

Sandy has the best community events and activities in the Wasatch Front. Paul and his family attend many events throughout the year, as do many Sandy and surrounding area residents. One of his top priorities is continuing these community events with intelligent planning and local business involvement.
