Rebekah Stewart for Lakewood City Council Ward 3

I’m running for city council to ensure that the Lakewood we love is accessible and full of opportunity for all. I have spent my career working with, and advocating for, individuals in the disability community here in Colorado. My background drives my desire to make sure that everyone has a voice in shaping local government and in what we want our neighborhoods and city to be. I deeply believe we need more leaders in local government from professions that put people first- leaders who approach every individual and issue with nonjudgement, are willing to listen and make decisions with empathy and compassion, and who consider all voices in our community. We need local government to work for its citizens and neighborhoods, and I believe that my background uniquely qualifies me to do that effectively. I am passionate about investing in the future of our community here in Lakewood through: -Exploring innovative ways to expand safe bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure -Protecting our Colorado way of life by investing in our parks and open space -Standing for continued efforts to increase equity and inclusivity for all in our community We are facing some difficult times right now, and in order to support economic recovery, I will work to cut red tape and create more opportunities for our small businesses to succeed and thrive in our city.
