Several years ago I moved back to Utah with my husband, Todd, and my dog, Walter, because there is so much natural beauty and such a fantastic community. South Salt Lake has so much going for it and we are thrilled to be a part of this City on the Move! But while this is a wonderful community, there is some progress to be made, and I want to add my energy and passion to move the city forward. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m on the South Salt Lake Planning Commission. I’m a substitute teacher. I volunteer for the animal shelter and for the Salt Lake Film Society. Two years ago I found myself dealing with breast cancer, which inspired me to make a difference and improve my community. SMART GROWTH: In my capacity as Planning Commissioner I have learned about ways in which the inevitable growth coming our way can impact residents. With strategic planning, we can do it right. CLEAN AND LIT STREETS: I hate litter! I do my part by picking up trash as I walk our neighborhoods. I’d love to work on ways to encourage others to help keep our city clean. Enhancing our street lighting is one of the best ways to beautify our streets and reduce crime. This will be one of my main priorities. PUBLIC SAFETY: We need to offer competitive pay to our public safety officers in order to recruit and retain our independent police and fire departments. South Salt Lake isn’t some sleepy bedroom community. We have special needs that require local control and autonomy for our first responders.
