Tasha Lowery for Draper City Council

It has been such an honor to serve on the Draper City Council these past three years. This city is our home, the place we have chosen to raise our families, to put down deep roots, to lift up our neighbors, and to celebrate our milestones. When I ran, my youngest was just 5, starting kindergarten. Now my oldest will be entering high school. I wanted to be more involved for them, because growing up in a great town gives our children solid ground from which to leap. And I wanted to be more involved for all of you, because I knew that together we could build a better Draper.

Over my first term, we worked to improve outreach and communication. We focused on adding parks and building new trails, with an emphasis on family friendly hiking paths. We constructed new roads, added new waterlines, increased safety with new lights, and gained a Rec Center, a Splash Pad, and a new off leash dog park. We worked to build collegiality amongst the council and to grow and nurture a sense of pride and positivity amongst residents. Our city was ranked as the 6th best place to live, our schools are producing amazing youth accomplishing phenomenal things, and even during the pandemic, our home values have gone up, our businesses have thrived, and we have come together to support one another in unprecedented ways. Our economy is strong, our hearts are big, our future is bright.

Our work isn’t done yet, as we look to the development of the 600 acres of the current prison site. It will take all of our strong and experienced voices to ensure that Draper continues to maintain our high quality of life and that our focus on family, community, safety, beautiful open spaces, and overall wellbeing stay paramount. I will continue to work hard for you and your families. I will always serve with honesty, integrity, intelligence, and gratitude. And I hope to have your continued support on this shared journey.
