## About

I love Charleston. I was born and raised here, and I want my children to enjoy the same sense of community that I did.

I believe in protecting the fundamentals of Charleston—our cultural and coastal resources—that keep people like me here and that attract dozens of new residents daily. Doing so requires creative thinking, hard work, and a willingness to listen. Over the last four years, I’ve tried to bring exactly that to Charleston City Council, and West Ashley has real progress to show for it:

• Ashley Landing: I helped advance the $300 million redevelopment of the Sumar Street site with EDENS, the largest private investment in West Ashley’s history. Construction is now underway on what will become our community’s new gathering place.

• Sam Rittenberg Boulevard: I pushed the City to take a stronger hand in redesigning this corridor into a safer, more walkable “main street,” with separated bike and pedestrian facilities, landscaped medians, and better lighting on the way.

• A City Hall presence in West Ashley: After years of being an afterthought downtown, we’re bringing a municipal office building to Old Towne Road, so residents don’t have to cross the river to attend public meetings that impact our community.

• Stormwater and flooding: I’ve directed real investment into the neighborhoods that have waited too long, including Magnolia, Sandhurst, Lenevar, and Charlestowne Estates I.

• Parks and recreation: From the W.L. Stephens Aquatic Center replacement to renovations at Mary Utsey, we’re finally funding the recreational infrastructure our families deserve.

I ran in 2023 because I believe West Ashley deserves the same attention and investment that other parts of Charleston take for granted. Four years wasn’t enough to finish the job, and the next four will bring even bigger decisions: completing the Sam Rittenberg transformation, continued maintenance and improvements at District 9’s parks and playground, and making sure development serves the community’s interest, not somebody else’s.

I am running for re-election because West Ashley’s momentum is real, but it is not guaranteed. I need your help to finish what we started.

Please consider a contribution today so we can keep this work moving forward.

Thank you,

William Tinkler
