Greetings to Hood County residents that reside in JP Precinct 1. A Texas Veteran who “Protects and Serves”. TIM AUSTIN FOR HOOD COUNTY CONSTABLE FOR PRECINCT 1·SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2019· A Texas Veteran who “Protects and Serves”. Growing up as a Hood County resident, in a military family and having the honor of serving in the United States Army as military police, along with having a career of over 30 years in law enforcement and leadership has given me compassion, to protect and, serve others. Considering, my candidacy for Constable in Precinct 1, in Hood County, Texas, I would like to share with you my objective, duties, experiences, and qualifications, of being your Constable for Precinct 1. My objective will be to implement honorable, well-organized, and experienced jurisprudence, protection, to our community. The job of a Constable is a Texas certified peace officer and can enforce the law at any time, however, their main duties are to serve civil and criminal processes in the precinct. In order to provide a well-timed business of civil and criminal processes, the Constables in Hood County will assist each other when needed. In addition to these duties, a Constable serves as bailiff for the Justice of the Peace court for that precinct. The reason I want to become a Constable is that I have the experience along with the devotion of protecting and serving our community. By the time sunset has arrived, I will perceive my day as being well rewarded knowing that I “Stood Tall” for our community. The experiences I possess that qualify me for the position of Constable are that I have been on the Hood County rescue unit and assisted the Granbury fire department. I began my law enforcement career as a reserve deputy and completed the peace officer academy. Joined the military in the U.S. Army as Military Police for a major command, and then when I received my honorable discharge I continued my career in Law Enforcement which is now around 30 years. During this time I have attended training classes and have increased my learning experiences with being a bailiff at County Court of Law. I am trained in court security and have had civil process training throughout my career. I have also been trained as a mental health peace officer and physical security training along with critical incident training which is beneficial in de-escalating certain situations. Throughout my career, I have had many experiences with delivering civil and criminal processes for summonses, subpoenas, and warrants. In addition to my experience and qualifications, I also have compassion, integrity, and great negotiation skills along with the eagerness to learn in order to achieve higher knowledge and education. I have great leadership skills and experience. I am involved in my church as a member of the Knights of Columbus since 2012. Over the years I have held various seats and in 2018-19 I achieved the position of faithful navigator which was a great honor of leadership. Other leadership positions I have had throughout my career are Jail Sergeant and Lieutenant. I have worked as a transport officer and am experienced and trained in assisting mental health patients. Protecting, Serving and with dedication, it would be a great honor and respect, toward, providing you, a secure community and with my tall frame of being 6’8,” I feel confident with being able to that.
