My name is Lisa Gehrke and I am running for Taylorsville city council. I have been proud to call Taylorsville my home for over a decade. My son grew up here, attended our public schools, and graduated from Taylorsville High. I was raised in South Salt Lake, and graduated from Westminster college with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. I am an RN at Huntsman Cancer Hospital specializing in hematology. I am in this race because as Taylorsville grows I feel a responsibility to build a sustainable future for our city. Sustainability starts in our own back yards. It starts when we invest in local business to grow a vibrant economy, where those who profit from our infrastructure and workforce are invested in the success of our city. It starts when we insist on transportation systems built around people, not parking lots. When we maintain quality roads for motorists and increase safe accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians. It begins when community leaders, residents, and city officials work to maintain long-term affordability in housing. A sustainable future requires communication between representatives and residents experiencing the effects of growth. I want to promote a city where real people have a real voice.
