Hello Neighbor! I am a candidate for Utah Senate District 6: Taylorsville, West Jordan, South Jordan. As a concerned mom and grandma, I want a "SAFE. AFFORDABLE. UTAH." for my loved ones. As you do for your loved ones. So much care and concern I have decided to run for office; to step-up and speak-up. There are too many laws that are introduced that do not address the core issues that the majority of Utah is facing today and into the future. I know what it is like to be a worried and scared homeless minor sleeping in a car. I know what it was like to not have affordable health care for my daughter’s rare disease. I know what it is like to have my granddaughter as a patient at Primary Children’s Hospital, praying she would live. I wanted safe mental care for my late mother. I know what it is like to cry in the welfare office as a discarded wife with two young children in tow. As a former statistic, working two-three jobs it was hard physically and mentally to take care of myself and my family. Fortunately, I was later blessed to become a single-parent homeowner but still struggled for the safety and affordability of life. It is similarly an increasing challenge for many Utah residents. Countless Utahns have told me of similar struggles, who tell me they do not matter to anyone on the Hill. You may not know of these struggles personally but you most likely know someone who does, or will know someone who struggles. Especially with the COVID-19 and earthquake/tremors. I earned her B.A Degree in Environment and Behavior at the University of Utah as a single mom. As a public servant for over 20 years, my experience includes serving on the Faculty Senate in Higher Education and being an emergency coordinator (during 9/11). I have served on executive boards from higher education (including Utah Women in Higher Education-Salt Lake Community College Chapter) to charities (including Primary Children's Hospital-Festival of Trees). I am a graduate of the Women's Leadership Institute-Political Development Series and Utah Investment Network. As the Chairwoman for the City of Taylorsville Cultural Diversity Committee, I enjoy serving our community. Your voice truly matters to me!
